The Imperial College Sri Lankan Society Ball was this year proudly sponsored by the Mike Cooke Group. Accordingly, the scale of this year's event was suitably grandiose with the High Commisioner of Sri Lanka for the UK being the Guest of Honour.

A lot of the credit of course goes to the Committee for a sell out event this year. However,  6'7 giant (as well as the Society's President) Chathura Jayatissa played an instrumental role in bringing down the phenomenal Sri Lankan Super-duo Bathiya and Santhush (BNS).

The legendary Bathiya and Santhush in full flow

BNS are Sri Lanka's most accomplished musical duo in the field of ethnic fusion music. In the last 5 years they have secured over 350 live performances, a music publishing contract with Universal Music, a recording contract with Sony BMG and have released 3 Platinum selling albums.

The Islanders were on hand and the Baila they played had the entire venue on their feets dancing the night away. The artist Krishan opened the stage for Bathiya & Santhush with performances of tracks from his album Asian Avenue. Songs included the superhit J-Town Story and Ninaivugalai, backed by Sri Ram and Mike.

Bathiya, Santhush, Ashanthi & Nilanthi took to the stage, received by a packed house. BNS dropped hits spanning their musical career, with Ashanthi perfroming a few from her upcoming album which is to be released soon. Highlight of the evening was the collaboration between BNS & Krishan to the song 'Neththara' and a freestyle baila rendition with BNS vocals and Krishan's beatboxing.

Proceeds from this year's Event will all go towards the UK Association of Medical Aid to Sri Lanka.
