Menis & Nazza T
SPOT THE DIFFERENCE Their debut hit “Sshh!” received a massive response after being aired on the Bobby Friction & Nihal show (BBC Radio 1), the Adil Ray show (BBC Asian Network) and numerous other local and national radio stations through August & September of 2005. Their next big break came when Xstreme Soundz announced the signing of Menis aka Road Runna & Nazza T on a long-term deal that will see them fulfil their potential and revolutionise Asian music both in the UK and abroad. 2002 was the year that Menis began writing his first lyrics at the tender age of 16. Not satisfied simply kicking rhymes back and forth with other young MCs in street events and college breaktime battles he started to make moves to enter the scene professionally, and began to feature in raves across the London area, often having to earn his every second on the mic by keeping the notoriously fickle Asian crowds entertained to the fullest. Menis, however, thrived in this pressure-cooker atmosphere and within a year had become a regular name on the bill of some of the biggest club nights and events in the country. A weekly residency at Empire Lounge in Leicester Square, London was complemented by appearances at massive one-off gigs like the Zee Mega Mela held in Birmingham and the 2004 London Mela, where he held down the main stage with a mixture of talent and charisma belying his teenage years. By now he was flowing with ease not only over garage beats but hiphop/R'n'B, dancehall and bhangra too, and had also become a well-recognised host. By 2005 the stage was set for his move from being an MC to a fully-fledged artist, and he began to collaborate with up-and-coming producers to hone his studio technique and songwriting skills. ![]() Nazza T has an equally interesting musical history. Being of mixed race origin (his father is from South India while his mother was born in Ireland) Nazza T was exposed to two very different cultures from an early age, and this clash of identity is evident in his music. Equally as comfortable knocking out storming heavy metal riffs on a heavily-distorted electric guitar as he is playing soothing bhajans (traditional Indian religious songs) on the vaja (harmonium), he defies the common conventions of what is and isn't acceptable for an "urban music" producer; for proof check out the beats to "Spot The Difference" (Xstreme Soundz' debut release) that vary from Hiphop to R'n'B to straight-up Pop via Reggaeton, Dancehall and Hindi. No musical stone is left unturned, and the clues to Nazza T’s versatility lie in the story of his musical journey so far.
