The Leano presents
 ‘Steps to Leanoland

'Part time British, Part time Tamil', The Leano has been rapping and performing poetry for 6 years and is now releasing his debut album ‘STEPS TO LEANOLAND’ on an independent label called Colarj Records Ltd. It will be available online and in shops across the UK from December 2nd 2005.

This album has already been hailed by www.dogma.net as 'exciting'UKHH describes it as a 'sonically consistent album' and it has been named album of the week by Adil Ray at the BBC, but we await the other reviews due by the end of the year.

He grew up in North London UK, but wrote and produced the album in Kingston upon Hull over a period of 2 years. The delivery and meaning of his lyrics have been greatly assisted by this and it has given the album a fresh, unique sound that is entirely different to other UK London rappers.

THE LEANO WITH GROUNATION AT THE 2ND GEN CHARITY EVENT

The Leano brings conscious lyrics to unusually sparse hip-hop beats capturing the viewpoint of middle-class Britain. The album takes us on a journey from passionate tales of female woes to social and political incites, discussing issues such as sexuality, race and society. His influences range across many genres and this is captured in the production. He worked with three separate producers (Ben, Meka, Colliss) in order to create the eclectic masterpiece that is ‘STEPS TO LEANOLAND’.

His fans are based all around the north of England and he has been crowned Hull and York Battle champ two years running, as well as being part of a seven piece jazz/hip-hop collaboration called ‘GROUNATION’. In order to earn money, he has been running educational workshops that provide young people with a creative space and the tools needed to nurture their creative writing in the future. The success of this, has led to him joining ‘Apples and Snakes’ (the biggest poetry organisation in the UK) which has led to him touring the country with a range of poetry groups. This rapper is surely one to watch!
