Born and raised in his beloved Catford, South East London, Jason Bavanandan's earliest musical memories revolve around The Beatles, Bob Marley and Motown compilations. Not a bad education, some may say; but these sounds have so strongly gripped young Bavanandan's imagination that he seemingly finds it almost impossible to concentrate on anything else. His time as a winger in the school Rugby 'D' team might be mentioned, as could his one-time employment selling furniture at Courts, but what would be the point? Music is his life. Obsessively, secretively, Bavanandan pours his heart into the songs of Battle. He also proves warm and witty company. The music of Battle is forged through the commitment and friendship between its members; it is this faith and warmth that Jason so passionately expresses through song.
