When media from around the world have questions about what's happening in Afghanistan they call James Appathurai. For the last four years, he been NATO's spokesperson. He's the face you see on CNN, CBC or BBC. It's his job to manage the organization's image. To do that he's on damage control, 24-7. Whether it's a case of friendly fire or answering questions about soldiers found stripped by prostitutes.
Of Tamil descent, James Appathurai was born in Toronto Canada in 1968. In an interview for 'The Hour' he explains the pressures of the job, NATO's current operations and the future of international defense.
