Born in 1981, dinesh is an established tamil rap artist from Sri Lanka. His debut album with Gajan named ‘Cross Culture’ made a mark in the Sri Lankan music industry. ‘Cross Culture’ was only the second tamil album to be released under universal music and m-entertainment in Sri Lanka. The theme song of the album ‘cross culture (nam oru)’ made a blockbuster hit in the tamil and the sinhala market and was number one on local chart shows. Dinesh’s album ‘gajan and dinesh - cross culture’ was also nominated for five awards on a local award show hosted by derana tv this year on the 05th of april 2008, and the first tamil song to be nominated for 5 awards. Thamila is dinesh’s first solo album to be launched in Sri Lanka, India and Malaysia. The album features artists from the United Kingdom, Malaysia and Srilanka. The album fuses the old with the new, with a completely different musical arrangement, unique to all markets. The album has been produced by the best in the local Sri Lankan market. The album contains twelve songs created and produced by dj scorpio and pasan liyanage from sri lanka, zali from malaysia and the upcoming producer charles bosco based in the united kingdom. After the official Sri Lanka launch in October 2008, the album will be launched in Malaysia and then India. Singles such as Kandasami and Suraangani (remake) are considered as the next biggest hits in the industry with both singles so far achieving top ratings and continous air play on Shakthi fm, Sooriyan fm and Yfm. Tracks such as Word wide web, Tamila (theme), Suraangani, Munaley Pinaley, Kandasami, Samarasa Pechi are so unique and different from his first album ‘cross culture’ that Thamila will be creating waves across the globe.
