CROYDON MELA SUNDAY 16TH JULY LLOYD PARK
The Croydon Summer festival is a diverse multicultural music weekender, comprising of two large outdoor events, the World Party on Saturday 15th July and The Croydon Mela on the following day. Held at Lloyd Park, this particular July weekend is one of the busiest in Croydon council’s calendar attracting over 50,000 visitors. Attractions include award winning music, street performances, trade stalls and a funfair.
The Independent on Sunday describes the World party as “The best free world music festival in the UK". Headlining this year’s event was De La Soul, the influential jazz hip hop trio.

As Saturday was a busy day with the launch of Lankan Lounge, Sunday was left free to recover and to pay a visit to the Croydon Mela. The Mela is described as an explosive mix of musical styles with acts including the ‘King of Bhangra’ Malkit Singh, the Rishi Rich Project, Jay Sean, UK Apache and our favourite Krishan Maheson.
 KRISHAN
Krishan Maheson was invited to perform tracks from his album ‘Asian Avenue’. The promotion material advertising the Mela describes Krishan as Sri Lanka's finest Tamil MC, getting ready to bring Tamil hip hop out of the shadows. In the scorching heat Nihal & Bobby Friction of Radio1 hosted to a packed Lloyd park. Krishan accompanied by Sri ram & Sarjun performed Raja raja Sola, Thola & Ninaivugalae. As Iraj and Ranidu were in town for Lankan Lounge, Krishan invited them on stage to perform Ahankara Nagare & Mata Aloke. The performances went great considering how shattered they must have been from the previous night. These past few days must have been exhausting for the guys, but what it did do was give a helping hand in exposing Lankan music and its artists.
