The stunning debut single from P.Diddy’s ‘One To Watch Artist'
'Freeze’ out May 21st on Avan Records

As a child Anusha was raised listening to an eclectic range of  music, due to her mother and father being passionate music fans.  From the sweet soul sounds of Stevie wonder to the rocky sounds of Queen (a favourite of her father Nava.) Her mother Margaret was born and raised in Mauritius and so Anusha would often hear the sexy, African beats of Sega.  ‘I have to dance when Sega comes on, it just takes over my body’ The influence of Sega is prominate in Love my Body and Turning me on.

Encouraged by her parents to be confident, from the age of 5 years, Anusha would seize every opportunity to perform in front of people whether it be at family gatherings or shows in public.  Her passion for performance was ignited. Anusha was born in Cardiff, on a frosty, harsh December evening 1983, to Nava Navaratnarajah and Margaret Hermance.  Her father Nava was raised in Sri lanka. Her parents were very keen travellers and so Anusha was exposed to cultural diversity at an early age.

Anusha ft Jerrel : Freeze (May 2007)

As she reached her teens, Anusha grew to become a serious music fan she went to several indie concerts including the Super fury animals, Catatonia and The manic street preachers.  ‘I love the rustic sound of the manics- they are legendary’. ‘At the time when I used to go to gigs in the Newport centre, my image was atrocious-  I used to die my eyebrows green, and wear baggy flares and these huge space age boots: but I was young and I figure you have to experiment to find out who you are.’

When Anusha turned 16, armed with fake ID, she would embrace the Hard House and trance scene.  She loved the atmosphere and the hard bass so much she got a part time job as a podium dancer. ‘the most fun and cool job ever’.  She got to meet Dj’s such as Lisa Lashes, Fergie and Jimpy.

At the same time, latin influences started to hit British airwaves, and she joined a semi professional dance company called the Colour’s of Brazil.  ‘ I love the seductive attitude of salsa and the traditional costumes of Brazil are spectacular’ In 2000, Anusha graduated from high school with great grades and decided she would continue her education through to university level whilst pursuing her singing career.

She started to guest vocal on several garage and RnB tracks with local artists in London but decided it was time to step out as a solo artist. In 2005, Anusha teamed up with the fabulous production team.
‘My music is here as a great soundtrack to the rollercoaster of emotions we see in life. I hope people listen and enjoy’.
